The Premiership is the name given to the Scottish soccer league, which was officially created in 1890 but has been called the Scottish Premiership since 2013. The Premiership is made up of 12 teams fighting for the title (for the big teams) and for survival (for the smaller ones). The first 2 places are synonymous with qualification for the Champions League (see our selection of Champions League predictions): direct qualification for the first and play-offs for the second. The 3rd and 4th qualify for the Conference League (see our Europa League Conference predictions). Finally, the last-placed team is relegated directly to the second division, while the penultimate-placed team goes through to the playoffs.

The Scottish Premiership has been the scene of a historic rivalry between the two giants, Celtic FC and Rangers FC. Rangers hold a significant record of 55 titles, with a landmark dominance in the 20s, 30s and 50s. Celtic, meanwhile, almost caught up with their rivals by dominating the 2000s and 2010s, with a run of 9 championships won from 2012 to 2020. This rivalry between the two clubs has captivated fans the world over, and given rise to some memorable seasons in the Scottish Premiership. Aside from these giants of Scottish soccer, other clubs have been crowned champions: Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian have won it 4 times, while Dumbarton has pocketed it twice. Five teams have lifted the trophy just once.
