Argentina's soccer league is highly competitive. The most successful club in the league's history is River Plate with 37 titles, closely followed by Boca Juniors with 35. Racing Club, Independiente and San Lorenzo have also enjoyed great success, winning 18, 16 and 15 titles respectively. Other notable clubs, such as Alumni (10), Velez Sarsfield (10), Estudiantes (6) and Newells Old Boys (6), also won several Brazilian championships. The season kicked off at the end of January in Diego Maradona's homeland, and River Plate currently occupy top spot in the Argentine soccer rankings. Talleres de Cordoba and San Lorenzo are just behind, while Boca are lagging behind in 10th place.
