The Brazilian soccer championship, also known as Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, is the top division of Brazilian soccer. It is one of the most competitive and popular national leagues in the world. The championship generally runs from May to December, with twenty teams competing on a two-legged points system. The league format follows the promotion/relegation system, with the bottom four teams in the Serie A Bresil standings relegated to Serie B, while the top four teams in the Serie A Bresil standings advance to next season's Copa Libertadores (check out our Copa Libertadores predictions). The Brazilian soccer championship is highly competitive. The most successful club in the league's history is Palmeiras, with 11 titles, closely followed by Flamengo with 7. Santos and Corinthians have also enjoyed great success, winning 7 titles as well. Other notable clubs, such as Sao Paulo, Fluminense and Cruzeiro, also won several Brazilian championships.
