The Superligaen, also known as the Danish Superliga, is the top division of professional soccer in Denmark. Named in 1991, it was created in 1912, and brings together the country's top teams in an exciting competition. The Superligaen format comprises 12 teams competing in two-legged matches over 33 league days. At the end of the season, the top team is crowned champion, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the lower division. The top team qualifies for the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League (see our selection of Champions League predictions), while other places in European competitions are also at stake.
