Championship ranking history - English D2
Created historically in 1892, the English D2 became the English Football League Championship (EFL Championship) in 2004. Currently, the top 2 teams in English D2 go straight up to the Premier League, followed by playoffs for the 3rd ticket between the teams ranked 3 to 6 in the regular season, which is already 46 matches long. A real marathon, with 24 teams competing in the championship. The teams ranked 3-4-5-6 then face off in a 1/2 final followed by a final, with the winner advancing to the Premier League standings. Conversely, the bottom 3 teams are relegated directly to the 3rd division (known as EF League one). You can find our Championship predictions as well as our Premier League predictions before each matchday. Find all the odds for the next matches to bet on the championship.

If Manchester City and Leicester are the most successful teams in English D2, City's last title dates back to 2001, because since then, water has flowed under the bridge and the Citizens have won more Premier League titles. For Leicester, the 1st title dates back to 1925 and the last in 2014. The Foxes were also Premier League champions in 2016. Behind this duo, we find a trio used to the elevator between Championship and Premier League with Norwich, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday. It's worth noting that Burnley picked up their 4th title this year, making them one of the top 10 most successful teams in the Championship.
